The Episcopal Athletic Field House buzzes with excitement in advance of a Knights home soccer game as coaches distribute jerseys and players gear up for success. The boys team has made a name for themselves in Louisiana high school soccer with back-to-back state championship titles. At the center of this developing dynasty is Head Coach Kiran Booluck.

Coach Booluck joined the Knights in 2016 and has built a program for which the school can be proud. “It’s been a process,” Booluck says. “The goal was to put Episcopal soccer on the map as a powerhouse.” With four championship finals appearances in five years, including two state titles, the process has paid off.

An Attitude of Gratitude

Grateful accurately describes Coach Booluck. He first began playing soccer at four or five years old, growing up in London, where soccer is everywhere. “Whoever had a soccer ball, you would go out and play until the streetlights come on,” remembers Coach Booluck.  “I love it. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from; anybody can play it.” As Coach Booluck grew, so did his love of the game, and he eventually went on to play in college, graduating from Southampton Solent University with a Bachelor of Honors in football (soccer) studies.  

“I always wanted to be a soccer player, so I am very blessed to stay connected to soccer,” Coach Booluck says of his long-time career. “I’m blessed that this is my full-time job. I’ve coached a lot of kids from a lot of different backgrounds.” Coach Booluck enjoys sharing his love of soccer and positively influencing young players. He strives to find common ground with players and meet them where they are regarding their hopes and goals for the team. This attitude toward coaching allows teams to achieve on and off the field.

Coach Booluck has achieved much on the Baton Rouge soccer scene and beyond. In addition to his role at Episcopal, he is the Louisiana TDP Elite GA Girls Academy Director and currently coaches the 2008 Girls (U17 Age Group). The team competes in the Frontier Conference, competing throughout the south and the nation. He has led multiple Olympic Development Program Teams for Louisiana. He is internationally and nationally licensed. He currently holds a UEFA B License and US Federation A License- which is the highest coaching license for Youth Soccer in the USA. Through the US Soccer Federation, Booluck is a coaching educator and instructor for future coaches, ensuring the game continues to thrive for the next generation.

Booluck’s love for soccer equates to tremendous success on the pitch. He has earned numerous accolades, including recently being selected as the 2023-2024 National High School Athletic Coaches Association Soccer Coach of the Year by the Louisiana High School Coaches Association and the National Federation High School Coach of the Year for Louisiana 2024. Coach Booluck also earned the United Soccer Coaches Independent High School Coach of the Year award for 2022 and 2024. In addition, he was the LHSCAA All-State Coach of the Year 2020, 2024, the All-Metro Coach of the Year 2021, 2023, 2024 and the District Coach of the Year in 2018, 2019, 2020 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

The Future is Bright

When Coach Booluck looks to the future of soccer, he is optimistic. Having coached in America for 15 years, he has witnessed massive growth. He points to the increase in soccer infrastructure across the country and the availability of 27 fields in Baton Rouge as proof that the sport is flourishing. He’s pleased that a second generation is now competing because their parents enjoyed their own experiences on the pitch. He also appreciates having former players return to mentor and coach. “It goes in full circle,” he says.

Soccer also goes full circle in Coach Booluck’s personal life. His PreK-aged son Kyler joined Coach Booluck on the Episcopal soccer field as a baby and is now growing up around the team. Following in his father’s footsteps, he plays recreational soccer and has a similar love for the sport. Coach Booluck hopes to watch that love grow. “I would love to coach my son,” he says. “That would be a dream.”

From London to Louisiana, Coach Booluck is living a dream first sparked when he was very young and playing in the neighborhood for fun.
