Episcopal School of Baton Rouge is committed to enrolling an inclusive student body composed of students from various economic, ethnic, racial, and social backgrounds. As part of that commitment, the school has established a program of tuition assistance for families who would otherwise be unable to consider Episcopal as an option for their children. The school’s philosophy regarding tuition assistance is that it be need-based. The school also has several merit-based scholarships. Episcopal attempts to select the most qualified students for admission based on the student’s academic and personal qualities as well as his or her potential ability to contribute to the extracurricular life of the school community, independent of a family’s ability to meet the cost of an Episcopal education. 

While it is the school’s firm belief that the primary responsibility for financing the student’s education belongs to his/her family, Episcopal appreciates that not every family can bear the full cost. The purpose of the tuition assistance program is to make Episcopal accessible to these families.

Tuition Assistance Program

Episcopal has an established tuition assistance program for families who would otherwise be unable to consider Episcopal as an option.  Awards are need-based and vary in range depending upon each family’s financial resources. Episcopal's Tuition Assistance awards are allocated to PreK-4 through 12th grade students according to financial need while keeping a balance across grades and gender. Last year, Episcopal awarded over $2.6 million in assistance to 33% of students.

The school’s Director of Tuition Assistance is available to counsel privately with interested families regarding tuition assistance. A family’s interest in tuition assistance and any award granted is considered strictly confidential.

Tuition Assistance Application Process

The tuition assistance application process for each school year opens in early October. Tuition assistance awards are made only after a student has been granted admission to Episcopal.

Episcopal uses ISM's FAST program to process tuition assistance applications. All applications are completed online. You may access the FAST Application by clicking the FAST image. There is a $60 fee per family to apply. This is payable to FAST via credit card online. November 1, 2025:  Early decision deadline to submit tuition assistance application and all supporting documentation; after the November 1st deadline, applications will still be considered on a rolling basis.

TUITION ASSISTANCE FAQ

Families receiving Tuition Assistance at Episcopal represent a wide range of financial backgrounds.  Although the primary responsibility of funding a student’s education rests with the family, any family unable to afford the full cost of tuition may apply for Tuition Assistance.
Financial need is evaluated by the Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) system and defined as the difference between the cost to attend Episcopal and a family’s ability to pay. It provides the School with a general assessment of a family’s ability to pay for education. Major factors in determining financial need include, but are not limited to, income, assets (including home equity, college funds, investment accounts, and trust funds), family size, and the number of children attending tuition-charging institutions. There is no preset income figure that qualifies a family for assistance.
The Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) system opens in early October.  Families should apply concurrently for Episcopal admission and Tuition Assistance so that financial awards are given at the time of admission offers.
Episcopal requires families receiving Tuition Assistance to reapply each year. However, as long as the student remains at Episcopal, Tuition Assistance is renewed every year according to demonstrated need. A change in income, family status, and the number of children attending private institutions may result in increases or decreases in an award providing funds are available. Every application is reviewed annually.

The Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana - Gaudet Fund

Each year, the Gaudet Fund awards block grants to advance the education of African American students attending primary and secondary Episcopal schools that offer rigorous curricula in preparation for entry to and completion of college. For the 2025-2026 school year, the Gaudet Fund awarded Episcopal School of Baton Rouge a $50,000 grant. All eligible students who have demonstrated financial need through our Tuition Assistance application will be automatically considered for inclusion in the Gaudet Scholarship Program request.
