12th Annual Vocabulary Parade
September 9th, 2022
Third graders demonstrated their vocabulary skills in a style befitting a “queen” or “monarch” as the 12th annual vocabulary parade rolled through the Visual & Performing Arts Center. Sitting near last year’s participants, the Episcopal fourth graders, the enthusiasm was high for terms like “Tyrannosaurus Rex” and “waffle.” Illuminating words like “bioluminescent,” “illuminous” and “luminous” lit the stage. Perhaps recent weather also inspired several words like “storm” and “thunderstorm.”
This annual tradition is inspired by a study of author Debra Frasier’s book, “Miss Alaineus: A Vocabulary Disaster.” It was great to see that this tradition hasn’t gone “extinct.”
The Episcopal School of Baton Rouge 2025-2026 application is now available! For more information on the application process, to schedule a tour, or learn more about the private school, contact us at [email protected] or 225-755-2685.
