Student Artists to Share Work in LSU School of Art Student Exhibit
February 19th, 2025
Student artists Lila Cook and Tiffany Foxworth-Haley have been selected to exhibit their art at the LSU School of Art 9th Statewide Juried Student Exhibition. According to LSU, “The goal of the exhibition is to inspire young artists and showcase the finest, artistic student talent in Louisiana. In its ninth year, the exhibition provides a platform for students’ work to be displayed in a professional artistic venue and offers insights into professional artist experiences.” Art teacher Veronica Hallock says LSU received more than 200 entries this year.
This is not the first artistic recognition for Lila and Tiffany. Last year, Lila was selected for the Baton Rouge Gallery’s REAL-LIFE EXPERIENCE Juried High School Exhibition. This was the second year running that Lila was chosen, and she hopes to go for a third showing this year. Last summer, Tiffany’s art entitled “My Faux Feline” was named a winner in the annual Congressional Art Competition. She was one of five Louisiana student artists selected for the honor. The works were displayed in the U.S. Capitol.

With a lifelong love of art, both student artists appreciate any opportunity to share their work. “I’m honored to have art displayed anywhere,” says Tiffany. She says she’s always been an artist and found that it was the perfect way to express herself. “It helped me get out of my shell.”
Lila is equally excited for the opportunity to participate in the exhibit. She says each exhibition makes her art dreams more “believable and attainable.” The exhibitions also provide a tremendous boost of confidence. With Lila planning to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design next year, her dreams are sure to become reality.
Art teacher Veronica Hallock is thrilled to see her students recognized. “Award shows bolster this lifelong love of art,” she says. “It showcases the value and virtue of pursuing the arts and that art has real-life applications past academia.”
Don’t miss your chance to view Tiffany and Lila’s works. The exhibition will be in Barnes Ogden Gallery from March 7 – 22. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Please join us in congratulating these student artists. Leave a message in the comments section below.
