The recent Episcopal Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony felt like a high school reunion. A record number of alumni returned to celebrate this year’s inductees – Warrick Baker ’91, Felisha Foster ’88 and Todd Graves ’90. Episcopal Alumni Coordinator Lindsay Turner ’97 says the strength of the Episcopal community showed as attendees reminisced during the pre-event reception. “It’s always special to bring together the athletic side of school life with the alumni side,” she says. “It’s amazing how much these alumni still support each other even after all this time.”

Turner points out that the strength of the Episcopal community was celebrated during the pinning ceremony before halftime. A record 10 previous Hall of Fame honorees were on hand to celebrate the new members. Past inductees Marquis Williams ‘93, Rubin Patel ‘90 and Chinkie Cointment were part of the induction ceremony, pinning our newest inductees.  These past Knights showcased years of friendship both on the field and off with our newest inductees.  Among other past inductees was John White ‘72, the first member of the original Hall of Fame, known as the Knights of the Roundtable.

Turner says such an outpouring of support and the lasting connections among Episcopal graduates are a big reason why the Episcopal community feels like a family for so many. “One attribute we see from decade to decade is a closeness within our graduating classes that I think is unique to the Episcopal experience,” she says. “But on Friday night we also had the honor to see this connection within our inductee families.  To see mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters also feel reconnected to a time when they were an active part of our current parent/student community made a real impact. In a way our families graduate away from Episcopal when their child does so it was so wonderful to see those alumni faces and family connections bring so much joy and purpose to a remarkable event.”

The halftime presentation provided an opportunity for past inductees and this year’s inductees to connect with today’s Episcopal students as the cheerleaders, Gold Steppers and drum corps welcomed the Hall of Famers to the field. Hopefully, the new inductees inspire the current Knights, who may one day follow in their footsteps. Induction into a school’s Hall of Fame is a tremendous honor, and we are pleased to celebrate the legacy of this year’s honorees. Warrick Baker ‘91

Warrick Baker was a natural leader in track and football and a great representative of what it means to be a Knight. He led by example and inspired everyone to dream big and achieve more. Warrick was an integral part of the football team as well as a major factor in district and regional track victories and earned numerous individual state championship accolades, including:

Four year letter in football and track
1991 Football 2A Bi-District Champs 
1990 Football Coach’s Award
Member of 1989, 1990 and 1991 District Championship track teams
Member of 1989 and 1991 Regional Championship track teams
Member of 1990-91 All Parish track team 
Member of the 1990 and 1991 State Runner-Up team
1989  and 1990 Outstanding Fieldman Award in track
1991 - Outstanding Trackman Award
1991 Baker Vinci All-American Achievement Track Award 
1989 4th place state long jump
1990 - 2nd place state 1600-meter relay 
1991 2nd Place state 400-meter dash 
1991 2nd place state triple jump  

More importantly, Warrick has continued to live a life of purpose. He was a track athlete at the University of Southern Miss and still holds records in the triple jump. Warrick is now a pastor and leader in his community.  At 50 years old, he started competing as a U.S.A. Track and Field Masters Athlete.  This year, he ranks in the US and the World in three events – the 60, 100 and 200-meter dash. Next season, he plans to compete in the National and World Championships. He and his wife have four children: a University of Texas graduate, a University of Louisiana Lafayette senior, a University of Houston freshman and a senior at Pearland High School. 

Felisha Foster ‘88

Felisha “Flea” Foster was an outstanding basketball player, setting many Episcopal records that still stand today. She was the starting point guard throughout her four years of high school (1984-88). She held the record for the highest points scored in a game (43 points before the introduction of the three-point line) for almost 30 years. She was named District MVP and was first team All State.

After graduating, Felisha attended LSU and coached middle school basketball for Redemptorist. She later relocated to Mobile, Alabama, where she served as the assistant coach for the women’s team at South Alabama. 

After a short stint in coaching, Felisha changed careers and pursued her dream of working in the wine industry. She moved to Boston and opened Spoke, a highly successful upscale wine bar serving as a place for those in the community to enjoy fine wine and dining. Providing a place of community for her neighbors to gather was very important to Flea, and Spoke was recognized as the #2 wine bar in the country by “Wine Magazine” and Boston’s Best Wine Bar in 2016.

In 2014, Felisha was diagnosed with ALS, and after a courageous three-year battle, she passed away in 2017 at the age of 47. After the 2016 Baton Rouge flood, Episcopal renamed the new gym floor in her honor, calling it the Felisha Foster Court.

Todd Graves ‘90

Todd Graves was a tremendous high school athlete, lettering in varsity football and track and field all four years. In football, Todd played both sides of the field, starting at quarterback and defensive end. He also returned kickoffs and punts. His contributions during his senior season earned him the football MVP award. On the track, Todd ran the 100-meter dash, threw the javelin and ran the anchor leg of the 4X100 and 4X200 relay teams. He competed at state all four years.

While his athletic career was one that we are honored to recognize, Todd’s recent contributions to the Episcopal athletic program have showcased his dedication to Episcopal’s athletic future.  He and his wife Gwen, also an Episcopal graduate, had a vision for the Athletic Field House that established a space that positively impacts student athletes and the entire student body.  Todd and Gwen ’88 have two alumni children, Sophia ‘20 and Charlie ’22.
