Congratulations to the recently recognized 2022 and 2023 Penniman Scholars!
2021-2022 Recipients:
Meg Kantrow ’27
Airi Homma ’26
Addison Reynolds ’25
2022-2023 Recipients:
Lila Awad ’28
Samantha Chrest ’27
Anne Bradley Ewing ’26
The recipients and their parents were honored with a breakfast reception in the Episcopal Alumni House Parlor on Friday, May 13th. Head of School Carrie Steakley and Margaret Penniman Boudreaux, a 1976 Episcopal graduate and retired fifth grade Episcopal teacher, hosted the event.
The Mary Virginia Crain Penniman Scholarship was established by G. Allen Penniman, Jr. in remembrance of his late wife Mary Virginia Crain Penniman, who had a passion for English studies. The Penniman Scholars are selected each year by the grade level English teachers to recognize the outstanding English student in each Middle School grade.
This year marks the 34th year the Penniman Scholars have been recognized by Episcopal. The first Penniman Award was given in 1988 to Lee C. “Buster” Kantrow and Cathy White Engle. For the first time, a second generation recipient, Meg Kantrow, was recognized with a Penniman Scholar.
