Carrie Poynot has served as a choir teacher and music director at schools and churches throughout her career. Most recently, she was a kindergarten through fifth grade teacher at Broadmoor Elementary School where she reinvigorated the music program. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music and vocal music education from Centenary College of Louisiana and a master’s degree in music and choral conducting from Louisiana State University. Carrie is actively involved in the community as a volunteer with Yelp BR!, St. John’s Shepherd’s Market and the Capital Heights Neighborhood Association. Carrie is a singer/songwriter in the Longleaf folk band.
