Lower School Parent Newsletter | 09-12-25
September 12th, 2025
Lower School Families,
Thank you to all who attended this week’s Lower School Parent Coffee. Also this week, students were proud to show both patriotism and school spirit during Thursday’s American Spirit Day!
Best of all this week, 5th grader Talyn visited today! Fifth graders welcomed her back home, to Baton Rouge, with a simple but sweet party in the QUEST Center. Together we draped our necks in Hawaiian leis, enjoyed some treats, put on some Lilo & Stitch tattoos, and engaged in a friendly, yet competitive game of School Jeopardy. Talyn’s care will continue now from home, with occasional visits to school, where she’ll be surrounded by the best team around - Team Talyn! Welcome home, Talyn!
Important Information & Reminders
- Toolbox Tuesday - Mrs. Lofland’s lesson this week featured wisdom, our theme of the week. You can read about her lesson here.
- Hispanic Heritage Month - This is celebrated from September 15 to October 15. If you or a family member would like to share information about your Hispanic heritage, a country, favorite dishes, or traditions, please contact our Spanish teacher, Sabrina Moreira. She’s looking for Morning Meeting & classroom speakers.
- In the QUEST Center this week, Early Childhood students drew self-portraits while looking in the mirror at their unique features. They will also use hammers, golf tees, and styrofoam to create from their imagination. 2nd graders dissected chicken feet to observe how muscles and tendons work together to move the fingers/toes. They also learned from experts on the skin and bones. 3rd graders observed and sketched various weather tools on campus and identified the uses for each. 5th graders in Mrs. Laugier’s homeroom participated in an origami algorithms game and learned vocabulary associated with coding before beginning to code in Scratch.
- 9/15 International Dot Day - Inspired by the picture book, The Dot by Peter Reynolds, Lower School students will celebrate creativity, courage, and collaboration throughout the school day.
