Lower School

Hollie Gasser - PreK-3 Teacher

Hollie Gasser is a PreK-3 teacher. A veteran educator, Hollie specializes in early childhood and has taught public and private school students.  Previously, Hollie was a member of the Episcopal early childhood team for three years as a Pre-K Resource teacher, Early Childhood Fellowship Coordinator and Lead Pre-K teacher. While teaching at the Baton Rouge Center for Visual and Performing Arts, Hollie was awarded the Brotherhood/Sisterhood Award and voted the school’s 2019/2020 Teacher of the Year. Hollie has mentored numerous student teachers and implemented various curricula. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology in Family, Child and Consumer Science with a concentration in Nursery School/Kindergarten from Louisiana State University. 

Kathleen Nguyen - First Grade Teacher

Kathleen Nguyen is a first grade teacher. Before joining Episcopal, Kathleen taught elementary school students in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System and served as a kindergarten inclusion teacher and lead preschool teacher in California. Kathleen earned a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Education from Louisiana State University. In addition, she earned a Crosscultural, Language and Academic Development Certification from the University of California San Diego. Kathleen is fluent in Vietnamese and experienced in Spanish.

Middle School

Whitney Allison-Sims - Eighth Grade Science Teacher

Whitney Allison-Sims is the eighth grade science teacher. Since 2020, Whitney taught Middle School science and STEM at Plaquemine High School and East Iberville Middle. In this role, she designed and implemented STEM-focused training and development programs for students, led robotics and engineering clubs and managed training programs for students and staff. Whitney was recognized as the Teacher of the Year in 2021-2022 and 2024-2025. She was also recognized as the 2024-2025 District Teacher of the Year. Prior to entering the classroom, Whitney gained professional experience as a Lab Technician at Shintech LLC. A Lab Technician for nine years, she conducted quality control testing, served as the LIMS Administrator and assisted in training and evaluating new lab technicians. Whitney earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Louisiana State University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts and Science: Secondary Education from Liberty University.

Tommy Rhea - Eighth Grade Social Studies Teacher

Well-known in the Episcopal community, Tommy Rhea teaches eighth grade social studies. Tommy initially began teaching and coaching in 1975, spending 20 years teaching science, math, social studies, and physical education and coaching football, basketball, soccer, and softball in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. Tommy joined Episcopal School of Baton Rouge in 1994 and coached and taught for 27 years before taking on a role at St. Luke’s Episcopal School, where he taught social studies, Nature by Design and Preparation for High School. Tommy attended Louisiana Tech for two years, then transferred to Louisiana State University, where he continued his formal education for the next 12 years. Tommy earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education in 1974 and a master’s degree in supervision and administration of schools in 1978.

Upper School

Dan Binder - Upper School Division Head

Dan Binder is the Upper School Division Head. Dan has a wealth of experience in Episcopal schools, with a career defined by community engagement, academic rigor and a deep commitment to student development. Dan served as Dean of Students at Episcopal Collegiate School in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he led major efforts to strengthen the student experience, redesigning student retreats, overseeing advisory programs, launching new service initiatives and fostering leadership through nationally recognized student government work. His previous tenure at Episcopal High School in Houston spanned more than a decade and included leadership roles as Chair of the Religion Department and Lay Assistant Chaplain. Dan earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Columbia University, a Master of Divinity from the Yale Divinity School and completed doctoral work in Educational Leadership at the Virginia Theological Seminary.

Abbie Huber - Assistant Director of College Counseling

Abbie Huber is the Episcopal Assistant College Counseling Director. Abbie has experience on the university side of the college admission journey as she was previously a Senior Admissions Counselor in LSU’s Office of Enrollment Management and Student Success. At LSU, Abbie counseled prospective students and families regarding LSU and the admission process. She also planned and executed student event fairs and student receptions across the country. Abbie earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Hospitality Management from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Cross Divisional

J.T. Blair - Head Baseball Coach and Physical Education Teacher

J.T. Blair serves as the Knights Head Baseball Coach and an Episcopal physical education teacher. J.T. joined Episcopal after serving as the Assistant Coach at Walker High School, where he worked with catchers and hitters. J.T. is also the Head Coach of Knights Nation, a 17U national team. The team captured the Marucci World Series Championship, ending the summer with a 26-10 record. J.T. brings a wealth of experience to the Knights, having previously coached at Holmes Community College, the Upstate Mavericks Organization and Spartanburg High School. While serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Birmingham-Southern College, J.T. helped the team finish as the National Runner-Up after winning the Regional and Super Regional. He also worked with the team catcher who went on to win the National Gold Glove Award for his position. In addition to coaching, J.T. has recruited at the D3 level. J.T. earned a degree in Business Economics from Wofford College. He was a member of the Millsaps College baseball team, playing catcher, first base, pitcher and designated hitter.

Ali Brady - Middle and Upper School Theatre Teacher and Theatre Production Director

Ali Brady leads Episcopal theatre productions as the Theatre Production Director. Ali has worked with performers as young as six years old through college age. She believes in the power of theatre to foster creativity, community and collaboration. Her diverse teaching and directing experience includes directing at Manship Theatre’s summer camps, BREC’s Independence Park Theatre and teaching the university-level Introduction to Acting course at Arizona State University. She gained professional theatre experience through an internship with the National Women’s Theatre Festival. Ali earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts: Musical Theatre Performance and English from Baylor University and a Master of Fine Arts: Theatre for Youth and Community from Arizona State University.

Brent Broussard - Athletic Director

Brent Broussard is Episcopal’s Athletic Director. Brent’s career in education spans nearly two decades and includes time in the classroom, coaching and administration. Brent has coached tennis, football, basketball and baseball. He was named the 2021/2022 NFHS Louisiana Tennis Coach of the Year. Brent serves on the Executive Committees of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association, the Louisiana High School Coaches Association and the Louisiana High School Athletic Directors Association. He is the current President of the Louisiana High School Tennis Coaches Association. The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association recently recognized Brent as a Certified Athletic Administrator. Prior to his time with the Knights, Brent was the Woodlawn High School Athletic Director, managing an athletic department with 350 athletes and 50 coaches and staff. Brent earned a Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University.

Amy Johns, BSN, RN, NCSN - Middle and Upper School Nurse

Amy Johns, BSN, RN, NCSN is the Middle and Upper School nurse. Amy is an Episcopal alum (Class of 1987) and has returned to her hometown of Baton Rouge after recently caring for students at St. John’s Episcopal School in Dallas, Texas, for 13 years, serving preschool through 8th grade. Before her term at St. John’s, she also worked as a school nurse at Highland Park High School in Dallas. Amy holds a National Certification as a school nurse and, as a veteran healthcare provider, she has experience in caring for patients of all ages. Amy earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History from Southern Methodist University and completed pre-nursing coursework at Louisiana State University. She graduated with a BSN from Baylor University School of Nursing.

Kristina St. George - Service Learning Coordinator

This year, Kristina St. George will lead Episcopal’s service learning efforts as the Service Learning Coordinator. Prior to that, she taught eighth grade World Geography at Episcopal.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree in education from Northwestern State University.  She began her teaching career in East Baton Rouge Parish schools in 2007. After living abroad in Saudi Arabia for three years, she joined the Episcopal faculty in 2017. She loves to travel and has visited over 30 countries throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia.  St. George is excited to share her international experiences and hopes to encourage global perspectives in her students.
