2024 Winter Sports Wrap Up

The Knights put together another impressive winter sports run. Check out the highlights and join us in congratulating these student athletes.


 

Boys Basketball

In his first season as the Knights head coach, Ben Young led the team on an unbelievable run all the way to the state championship semi-final contest. On the way to that game, the 13th-ranked Knights went on the road twice in a week besting number four Calvary Baptist and number five St. Thomas Aquinas. 

Congratulations to TJ Callahan, Lance Clark and Parks McMains who were named to the 6-AA All-District First Team.


 Girls Basketball

The Knights advanced to the second round of the playoffs before falling to Parkview Baptist. It was another season to remember for the Knights with big wins versus Northlake Christian, Central Private and Ascension Christian. Fans will certainly not forget the exciting victory versus the top 10 ranked St. Mary’s Academy. The Knights pulled out the win in OT 46-45! Plus, no one will forget the 109-point game versus Istrouma High School in which sophomore Caroline Watson scored 45 points.

Congratulations to Elaine Bourgeois and Caroline Watson, who were named to the 6-AA All-District Team.


Girls Soccer

The Episcopal girls soccer season was one for the ages. The Knights had an incredible undefeated regular season and finished as the district champs and the Division IV state runner up. Coaches, players and fans won’t soon forget the magic of this remarkable season. In addition, standout Sarah Bonnecaze will continue her soccer career next year at TCU.

Congratulations to Sarah Bonnecaze (Overall MVP), Sydney Bonnecaze (Offensive MVP), Sadie Brien, Aubrey Ghere, Claire Moore, Kennedy Roth (Defensive MVP), and Maddie Teague who were named to the Division 4 - District 6 All-District First Team, including Coach Lynn Bradley, named Coach of the Year.

Boys Soccer

Another season, another state championship! The boys played a tough season and fought their way back to the big game. Along the way, they also earned the Division IV District V Championship title. This team has certainly made its mark in Episcopal history, and it’s been exciting to watch.

Congratulations to State Championship Game MVP Lane Mendoza, who will continue his soccer career next year at North Central College.

Powerlifting

The Episcopal powerlifters continue to break records! Several members of the team qualified for the state tournament later this month. In addition, powerlifters Jaela Purnell, Reid Chauvin and Carson Furniss are 2024 LHSAA/LHSPLA East Regional Champions! Congratulations to the Episcopal state qualifiers!

Wrestling team

Wrestling

The Episcopal wrestlers competed in the state championship meet to cap off the season, and senior Will York finished a solid fourth place in his division. First year head coach Greg Snee says the competition provided many of the first-time wrestlers valuable experience, and the team looks to come back strong next season, building on this season’s success.
