Fall 2023 Lower School Happenings

October 4th, 2023

Young Explorers at Play

The littlest Knights love exploring the stations in the QUEST Center. Naturally inquisitive, PreK-3 students learn a lot through play and experiential activities. The QUEST Center provides the perfect space for these experiences.

Beebot Fun

PreK-4 students learned more about programming Beebots. It was exciting to watch these busy bees move in different directions in the QUEST Center. Beebots are a great way to introduce little Knights to coding and robotics.

D.E.A.R. with your Buddy

Sharing a story with your buddy is always a treat. Recently, kindergarteners and fifth graders met in the Greer Center to Drop Everything and Read.

Duathlon Marks End of Healthy Selves Unit

After a comprehensive Healthy Selves unit, first graders celebrated what they learned with the annual duathlon. Students made smoothies, learned from parent experts, visited a farm and the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and more.

A Colorful Way to Explore the Weather

Third graders made clouds in a cup, competed in a hurricane engineering challenge and visited with a local meteorologist as part of their lesson on weather. Recently, they conducted an experiment to determine what happens when crayons are exposed to heat. Which colors melt faster? Which colors can tolerate the temperatures?

Happy Moon Festival!

Lower School students learned more about the Chinese Moon Festival or Mid-Autumn Festival. Classes enjoyed fortune cookies, and fourth and fifth graders received a special meal. Students sampled traditional moon cakes, made fans and lanterns and learned a Chinese dance. As a special treat, students participated in a virtual visit with children’s author and illustrator Grace Lin.
