What grade are you in?

I am in 8th grade.

How long have you attended Episcopal?

I started Episcopal in fifth grade.

What is your favorite activity?

I enjoy the Episcopal football games because they are a great time when our school comes together and celebrates the hard work of our football team.

What is your favorite academic subject, and why?

Math is my favorite academic subject. Math has so many layers and concepts, that really challenge you to think in different ways. I feel math helps me to look at the every day world in ways I haven’t before. I’ve learned so many different things from writing checks to percentages and rates.

What extracurricular activities are you in?

I am in math counts, student ambassadors, chess club, student council, youth leg, battle of the books, cross country, and track.

What is your favorite book?

I have no favorite book, but I really enjoyed It’s Kind of a Funny Story- By Ned Vizzini and the entire Percy Jackson series- By Rick Riordan.

What is something you like to do outside of school?

I like to run cross country outside of school. I enjoy the close knit team. It feels like a second family. The coaches are great and truly want the best for all of their runners. Sure cross country can be hard at times, but the reward at the end is worth all the other pain.

What is a big world problem that you would like to change?

When I think of a big world problem, I think of food insecurity. It pains me to think of all of the people who don’t know where they are going to get their next healthy meal from.

Have you volunteered in your community? Doing what?

Yes, I have participated in various clothing, food, toy, and supply drives throughout the years.

What do you think is the most important quality for a teacher to have?

I think the most important quality of a teacher is to be engaging. I feel I learn the best when I am fully immersed in a class. My teachers this year have done a great job with this. The teachers at this school don’t just give lectures on a board. They challenge us to be engaged in the class and think outside of the textbook.

What makes you feel the most appreciated and understood?

I think that Episcopal helps me feel appreciated and understood by being a safe place for thoughts, feelings, and ideas.

What is one thing you would like to do better as a student?

I would like to participate in more volunteering activities and community outreach programs as a student of Episcopal.

What are some family items or activities that represent your culture and identity?

A family tradition that we have is gathering as a family at my grandmother's house on Sundays and enjoying our traditional family meals.
